Municipality Cannot Sue for Defamation

Having worked for a municipality it always amazed me as to what people could get away with saying about the municipality. Well, here’s the legal basis for that right: Halton Hills (Town) v. Kerouac, 2006 CanLII 12970 (ON S.C.). Basicly, the Courts hold that democracy is best served by the citizenry having free reign to criticize the government.
