Injunction Against Communicating?

Injunctions are a very useful tool to put a stop to an illegal activity or contravention of a Court order. Generally the resulting order prohibits an individual from acting in a particular manner, attending at a geographical location, and so on an so forth.

Some injunctions prevent a person from saying something or conveying some form of information, not as the professional conveyancer in Adelaide would do. These types of orders are often seen in the context of “media “gag order” or a commercial dispute involving sensitive information relating to the dispute.

Take a look at this case, B.C. Transmission Corporation v. Lemoignan , 2008 BCSC 1221.

In particular this prohibiton:

[29] At the same time, I am going to prohibit you from engaging in any conversation, meeting, consultation, demonstration, planning strategy, discussion of any nature or kind whatsoever with any group, with any individual or individuals for the purpose of advancing objections to or planning strategy and opposition to the completion of this project.

Unusual in this or any other context. Can you actually prohibit someone from discussion something with another person? Not so sure about that one.
